Revenue Down 33% and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 5/21/24

  • Presto Automation Inc., a provider of payments technology for quick-serve restaurants, said its March-quarter revenue dropped 33% year-over-year to $4.45 million. Revenue for the year ending March 31 also fell by one-third, to $14.2 million. The company said it will wind down its pay-at-table product to concentrate on its artificial-intelligence based voice ordering product for drive-throughs.
  • The international payments platform Swift said it will work to extend the ISO 20022 standard to all of its payments flows and provide banks with tracking capabilities that can be “activated by customers at the click of a button.”
  • Payments provider PayTech Trust said it acquired Apogee Payment Systems. Terms were not disclosed.
  • American Express Co. said it is working with expense management provider Emburse to offer virtual card issuance, card reconciliation, and expense management to AmEx customers.
  • Fintech Cardless Inc. said in a partnership with Avianca Airlines’ loyalty program it has launched two credit cards bearing the AmEx mark for U.S. consumers.
  • Circle Internet Financial Ltd. launched a 60-second commercial promoting its USDC stablecoin with the slogan “Money is now open.”
  • Tyfone Inc., a technology provider for banking and payments, announced OUCU Financial Credit Union will convert to its nFinia Digital Banking Solutions technology. The credit union is the first client of the Cubus One Digital platform to adopt Tyfone following Tyfone’s merger with Cubus Solutions last year.
  • Payments processor Deluxe Corp. appointed John Rubinetti president of its B2B payments business. Rubinetti comes to the company from Fiserv Inc., and formerly worked at American Express and Bank of America Merchant Services.
  • Payments and lending fintech Bread Financial appointed veteran banker John J. Fawcett to its board as an independent director. Fawcett’s experience includes tenures at Royal Bank of Scotland and Citigroup.
  • Payments technology platform SKUx named Beth Costa executive vice president head of SKUPay Healthcare. Most recently, Costa led the payments practice of consultancy Oliver Wyman LLC.
