Ziosk Expands Its Device Platform and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 10/15/20

  • Restaurant technology specialist Ziosk expanded its Ziosk Platform to now include a Quick Response code service for contactless menu browsing, ordering, and payment. It also includes handheld and integration models of its service. Ziosk said the average use rate for its original devices is 92%, an average increase of almost 30% since the start of Covid-19.
  • Point-of-sale technology provider Castles Technology announced its Saturn 1000F2 mobile-payment device is the first to receive the PCI PTS Android 9 certification.
  • Entrust, a maker of payments and identity cards, introduced a capability to personalize metal cards on the same systems that produce conventional plastic cards. It also introduced new capabilities for card graphics.
  • Fintech financial-services provider Rapyd Financial Networks Ltd. announced an agreement with payments provider InComm Inc. to enable cash bill payments and loads at retailers across the United States.
  • Payments provider 2Checkout, a unit of Verifone Inc., said Visa Inc. and Mastercard Inc. brands garner 63% of global online sales, followed by PayPal Holdings Inc., 23%, American Express Co., 4%, and Discover, 1%. Wire transfer accounted for 2% and the general “all others, 7%.
  • Mastercard Inc. said its customers will be able to offer services from Stride, a benefit platform for independent workers, to U.S. cardholders. Mastercard said this is the first time that health, dental, and vision benefits will be made available via a payments network.
  • A survey from processor Adyen found that 69% of U.S. consumers intend to continue to shop with retailers they’ve relied on during the pandemic and 63% said they expect to shop more with nearby retailers because they want them to stay open. Conducted in July, the survey canvassed more than 2,000 adults.
  • Bluefin Payment Systems LLC issued a white paper on a new Nacha rule on Supplementing Data Security Requirements.
  • OFX Group Ltd., an international payments provider, appointed Leonard Shen as a director of its U.S. and Canadian boards. Shen most recently was chief compliance officer at Visa Inc. and has worked at American Express Co. and PayPal Holdings Inc.
