  • Discover Financial Services said its board of directors has appointed Michael G. Rhodes chief executive and president. Rhodes, who will take office on or before March 6, succeeds interim CEO and president John Owen, who will continue as a Discover board member. Rhodes comes to Discover from TD Bank, where he was group head, Canadian personal banking, and has held executive roles at Bank of America and MBNA America Bank.
  • Lava, a marketing and payments platform, has teamed with Wicket, a facial-recognition company, to support marketing initiatives and concessions sales at sports venues, starting with Cleveland Browns Stadium.
  • Integrated payments provider Payway released the Payway for WooCommerce Payment Gateway plugin.
  • RevoluPay, a unit of RevoluGroup Canada Inc., announced its RevoluSend service has launched in Europe instant payments based on Visa Direct.
  • Payments platform ConnexPay said it has added acquiring in Canadian dollars to its virtual card issuing service.

  • Pavilion Payments, a specialist in payments processing for iGaming, said its Instant Payments services have been adopted by ClutchBet, part of online wagering provider BlueBet Holdings Ltd. Pavilion. Instant Payments includes services based on FedNow, the Real Time Payments network, and same-day ACH.
  • Apple Inc. will offer access to its mobile payment systems to other providers in Europe, Reuters reported Tuesday. Citing anonymous sources, the report said the move could settle European Union antitrust allegations and curtail a potential fine.
  • Payments platform Wex announced it has appointed Sachin Dhawan chief technology officer. Dhawan comes to the company from a CTO role at Stitch Fix and has held executive positions at Visa Inc. and PayPal Holdings Inc. Earlier, Wex had appointed Aimee Cardwell, whose experience includes positions at American Express and eBay, to its board of directors.
