Lightspeed’s Revenue Jumps 193% and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 11/4/21

  • Payments provider Lightspeed Commerce Inc. reported revenue for its quarter ended Sept. 30 of $133.2 million, up 193% year over year. The number includes contributions from recent acquisitions, including NuOrder, Vend, Upserve, and ShopKeep.
  • FreedomPay Inc. said restaurant chain Shake Shack will use its Touchless Commerce service at more than 200 locations. This will enable Apple Pay and Google Pay use for Web purchases as well at inside Shake Shack locations, FreedomPay said.
  • Fintech Maverick Payments announced an integration with OpenPath, an e-commerce services provider, that will enable merchants using Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento platforms easier access to their Maverick merchant accounts without using a third-party payment gateway.
  • Visa Inc.’s Cybersource unit said it has joined the International Air Transport Association Financial Gateway to help the more than 290 member air carriers manage fraud.
  • Insurance-payments specialist One Inc. launched a new platform called PremiumPay 2.0 to ease acceptance of premium payments for insurers.
  • PDX Coin, a digital-payments and banking platform, said it is developing a crypto-to-fiat technology to let merchants more readily accept a broad range of cryptocurrencies.
  • Macy’s Inc. shareholder NuOrion Advisors LLC sent a letter to the retailer’s chairman “demanding” that the company form a committee to solicit proposals for, among other initiatives, acceptance of cryptocurrency.
  • Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency-technology firm BitFury Group named Brian P. Brooks chief executive. From May 2020 to January 2021, Brooks served as acting United States Comptroller of the Currency.
