The persistent need to provide the latest payment-acceptance tools and the pressure to keep an acquirer’s brand front and center often exist in parallel. North, a Troy, Mich.-based acquirer, is marking its launch of Embedded Checkout by North while competitor Kurv renews its sponsorship of the Cleveland Browns.
North says the embedded checkout service, completed in partnership with Webflow, an agentic Web-marketing platform, enables merchants to use an e-commerce application natively inside the visual design environment of their Web sites. This eliminates the requirement for off-site payment redirection, North says.
As Web sites became more sophisticated and tasked with increasingly complex demand, their development often became a web of disparate applications. That was especially so for the payments piece. “Enterprise web development demands absolute authority over the user journey, yet payment ecosystems have historically hijacked traffic right at the moment of conversion,” Bryan Long, North senior director of product management, says in a statement.

The partnership with Webflow Inc., a San Francisco-based company, enables Web developers to place the payment processing component directly into the site. This means all the Web components can work together without compromises, Long says, enabling them to maximize their checkout speed without fragmenting the digital experience.
Among the included features are one-click mobile wallets, a reduction in the PCI compliance purview because card numbers and data never pass through the merchant’s or Webflow’s servers, and better insight into the merchant boarding process.

In related news, Cleveland-based Kurv renewed its sponsorship of the regular season backdrop during the Browns’ weekly player and coach interviews.
Kurv has sponsored various Browns initiatives, including an annual toy drive, financial donations, and the Taste of the Browns, which benefits the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
