Investor Takes Stake in Poynt Parent and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/28/21

  • Shares in Web-services company GoDaddy Inc. rose more than 8% on Monday on the news that Starboard Value had bought a 6.5% stake in the company, which last year acquired payments-technology firm Poynt Inc. to launch its GoDaddy Payments unit. Green Dot Corp. and ACI Worldwide Inc. are two other payments companies in Starboard’s portfolio.
  • LawPay, a provider of payments processing for law firms, announced its program of legal continuing-education webinars resulted in more than 11,000 accreditations in 2021, a record number for the company.
  • DipJar, a charitable giving platform, said 2,130 organizations used its technology to raise almost $5 million in 2021, up 88% over the amount raised in 2020.
