Finix Payments Inc. is leaning into the unattended payments arena with the launch of its Android-based point-of-sale terminal designed for self-service payments. In related news, Deluxe Corp. formed a merchant services partnership with Dollar Bank.
San Francisco-based Finix says its new POS terminal is meant to meet demand for contactless, self-service kiosks in the retail and hospitality segments.
The device comes configured to operate the Finix Payment App. Among its features are universal payment-acceptance support, including for dipped and contactless transactions. The Android-based interface uses a touchscreen, which Finix says will look familiar to customers using the unattended payments device.

“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for businesses to accept payments anywhere, whether a staff member is present or not,” Richie Serna, Finix chief executive and cofounder, says in a statement. “Customers expect the same fast, easy checkout experience at a kiosk that they get at a traditional checkout counter.”
In related news, Deluxe says it will provide Pittsburgh-based Dollar Bank with cloud infrastructure and data access capabilities that will aid the bank’s payment-acceptance options.
Minneapolis-based Deluxe says Dollar Bank, which has approximately $12.2 billion in assets and 91 branches, will expand its community-bank presence.
In the first quarter, Deluxe, best known for check printing, generated $104.9 million in merchant-services revenue, up 7.3% from $97.8 million in the year-ago quarter.
