- Global Payments Inc. announced a version of its Genius point-of-sale payments platform is available for colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada, including campus dining.
- The U.S. Faster Payments Council will work with the Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc., a developer of standards for the U.S. financial industry, to speed development and adoption of faster-payments standards for the U.S. market.

- Kubra Data Transfer Ltd., a developer of software for utilities, insurance companies, and government agencies, has launched Kubra HQ, a platform that it says brings together billing, payments, and customer communications.
- Fifth Third Bank has agreed to buy Comerica Inc. in an all-stock deal valued at $10.9 billion and expected to create the ninth-largest U.S. bank. Among the merger’s advantages will be strength in commercial payments, expected to yield $1 billion in revenue annually, the parties say.
- JTech Communications said it will support payments and other technology for Score Chaser, an event-management and scoring body for sporting clays, a shotgun sport said to simulate actual hunting.
- Bitcoin Depot, a Bitcoin ATM operator, said it has launched new rules requiring users to show identification before making transactions for any amount. The rules, which the company says also provide protections for seniors, follow the appointment in July of Philip Brown as chief compliance officer. The company operates more than 9,000 kiosks in 47 states.
