Adyen Launches a Business Partner Program; Klarna And Affirm Add a BNPL Option for Tesla

Adyen NV unveiled an enhanced partner program early Tuesday that it says will provide its more than 1,000 business clients the resources, support, and incentives to deliver a better user experience to Adyen merchants.

The new program gives Adyen business partners better visibility into Adyen’s product roadmap and integration expectations, and more information about how they can implement Adyen solutions. Adyen developed the program after speaking with dozens of existing partners, the Netherlands-based processor says in a blog post. As a result, it has shifted the focus of its partner program away from “limited, moment-in-time collaborations to strategic partnerships that scale,” the company says.

“Overall, our communication wasn’t as effective as it could be,” Jose Sepulveda, global head of Adyen’s partner program, says in the blog post. “We’ve created a full-on partnership model that gives partners a defined journey for how they can grow with us.”

The new program will provide Adyen partners with more “visibility, more predictability, and clearer enablement pathways, Sepulveda adds.

Premier partners, for example, can access product updates, which will be shared bi-annually to help them prepare and align.

Key features of Adyen’s new partner program include a tiered recognition program that highlights partners with superior integrations and professional-services practices. As partners reach each tier, they receive such benefits as enhanced technical support, dedicated partner management, and exclusive access to product roadmaps, leadership roundtables, and marketing assistance.

Partners will have access to in-depth training and credentialing programs aimed at enhancing their knowledge of Adyen’s platform and solutions, as well as customized technical documentation and testing environments within Adyen’s partner portal to support recommendations and implementation solutions for Adyen’s merchants.

Adyen partners will also have access to co-marketing opportunities with Adyen, including preferential placement in Adyen’s Partner Directory and access to Adyen-approved badges that serve as a point of differentiation for the partner. Adyen partners will also be to collaborate on joint customer announcements, case studies, and thought-leadership content. Top-tier partners will have access to dedicated marketing support and marketing funds to fuel joint campaigns and programs.

To help spur partner growth, Adyen is offering a referral program that rewards partners for bringing new customers or sales leads to Adyen and revenue-sharing opportunities based on merchant transaction volume.

In related news, electric-auto maker Tesla said it is offering a buy now, pay later payment option for maintenance and repair services for its customers in the United States and Canada. Affirm Inc. and Klarna AB will reportedly be the two BNPL providers. The payment option will be part of Tesla’s app update 4.46.

The payment option will appear in the app’s service-estimate section within the app. Qualified customers will be presented with a payment plan and the associated costs.
