Wirex Preps for U.S. Debut and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 2/18/21

  • To support a cryptocurrency-payments launch set for April in the United States, London-based digital-payments platform Wirex has linked to crypto-trading firm Zero Hash. Harold Montgomery, former chief executive of independent sales organization Calpian Inc., is managing director for Wirex USA Inc.
  • Parking-app provider ParkMobile LLC said its latest municipal agreement allows its app to be used to pay for parking at more than 500 spaces in Emeryville, Calif.
  • Marqeta Inc. has expanded into credit card issuing through a link with cobranded card specialist Deserve Inc.
  • Canadian fintech Mogo Inc. is entering the U.S. market via its card-issuing unit Carta Worldwide. Carta expects to begin operations with its first U.S. clients by the end of the first quarter.
  • Recurring payments provider GoCardless opened a New York City office as it embarks on a global hiring spree. It is the second U.S. location, the first being San Francisco, for the United Kingdom-based firm.
  • Visa Inc. said it will support digital, off-cycle payments to employees of firms using payroll-automation specialist ADP.
  • EVO Payments Inc. said its PayFabric Gateway was certified by SAP as an SAP digital payments add-on solution.
  • Aurora Payments named Doug Hardman its chief technology officer. Hardman’s experience includes 20 years in payments.
