Ralphs Now Accepts Apple Pay and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 11/9/22

  • California grocer Ralphs has begun accepting Apple Pay in its 184 locations in the state, reported MacRumors.com, citing a company spokesperson. Ralphs is part of the Kroger Co., which Digital Transactions News reported in 2020 was testing contactless payments at some of its locations. Kroger launched its proprietary mobile-payments service Kroger Pay in 2019, but has yet to broadly accept general-purpose contactless payments.
  • Money-transfer specialist MoneyGram International Inc. reported total money-transfer revenue of $299.1 million for the September quarter, up 1% year-over-year. MoneyGram Online now accounts for 25% of all transfer transactions, the company said.
  • Restaurant-technology provider ParTech Inc. narrowed its third quarter loss to $21.3 million, an improvement from the $31.9 million loss in the 2021 third quarter. It posted revenue of $92.8 million, up 29.1% from $71.9 million a year ago.
  • Payments fintech Flywire Inc. reported revenue of $95.2 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up 40% year over year. For the first nine months of the year, revenue totaled $216.3 million, a 44% increase. Payment volume for the latest quarter jumped 33% to $7 billion.
  • Online risk management provider Riskified Ltd. reported $63.2 million in revenue for the third quarter of 2022, up 20.4% from $52.5 million in the 2021 third quarter. Its quarterly loss of $25.9 million improved from its $91.7 million loss in the same period a year ago.
  • Payments-technology provider Quisitive Technology Solutions Inc. announced its PayIQ processing unit will directly access VisaNet through an agreement with Visa Inc. unit Cybersource.
  • Nuvei Corp. said it will process payments for the United Kingdom-based marketplace OnBuy.
  • Passport has updated its parking app for the city of Evanston, Ill. The free app, which covers some 2,000 parking spaces in the town, now includes a “quick park” feature that saves a user’s most recent parking spots.
  • AffiniPay, a payments platform for professional services, named Ana Villegas chief marketing officer. Villegas previously worked at National Instruments in a similar position.
