Oracle Tweaks Contactless Acceptance And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 1/12/23

  • Oracle Corp. launched its Retail Payment Cloud Service to support contactless payments for U.S. retailers at fixed-fee rate pricing.
  • Mercatus Technologies Inc. debuted an updated version of its mobile grocery shopping app that includes seamless cart building and checkout, personalization, rewards and loyalty, and third-party delivery service integrations.
  • MobileCoin Inc. launched Moby, a blockchain-based peer-to-peer payments app.
  • American Express Co. has agreed to acquire Israel-based Nipendo, a provider of technology that supports business-to-business payments. Terms of the deal, which AmEx expects to close by the end of March, were not announced.
  • Forter, an online fraud prevention provider, said apparel retailer ChicMe will use its services to help with payment processing, fraud reduction, and order fulfillment.
  • Butter Payments said it raised $22 million in Series A funding, led by Norwest Venture Partners.
  • Infinite Peripherals, a provider of mobile point-of-sale technology, announced it has changed its name to IPCMobile.
  • Commuters in Vancouver, British Columbia, can now use Interac Debit to tap for transit payments on buses and fare gates in the metro Vancouver region, announced transit agency TransLink.
  • Payments provider TRG announced it has acquired Ontario-based Real World Communications Inc., a provider of wireless technology, as part of its expansion into the Canadian market. Terms were not announced.
  • The big French processor Worldline said it has closed on its acquisition of a 40% interest in Online Payment Platform B.V. The deal, for which terms were not announced, was disclosed in September.
