MoneyGram Launches a Stablecoin and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/2/26

  • MoneyGram has launched a U.S. dollar stablecoin called MGUSD, furthering its move into blockchain technology for payments.
  • Soar Payments LLC, also known as SoarPay, announced the publication of “High Risk Merchant Accounts 101,” a guide to processing payments for high-risk and regulated businesses.
  • Fifth Third Bank launched Report Phishing, a feature in its mobile app that lets customers report bank-impersonation scams.
  • Payments provider Bottomline said it is testing a fraud-intelligence exchange with commercial-banking clients. The exchange allows banks to share anonymized fraud signals in an effort to pinpoint possible fraud earlier for commercial payments.
  • Cash App, a unit of Block Inc., said Afterpay on Cash App Card is now generally available, enabling Cash App Card users to choose the Afterpay buy now, pay later option. Block closed on its Afterpay acquisition in 2022.
  • Payments provider Payroc said it will process transactions for business clients of Webster First Federal Credit Union, a financial institution in Massachusetts.
  • Processor Repay Holdings Corp. said it has closed on its previously announced deal to acquire Kubra Data Transfer LTD, a Canada-based bill-payment processor, for $372 million in cash.
  • Crossmint, a provider of technology for stablecoins and digital wallets, publicly launched its agentic card payments API, a tool for developers to enable holders of U.S.-issued Visa credit and debit cards to use the cards within agent systems.
  • Payments provider Benji Pays completed an integration with the Elavon Payment Gateway.
  • The Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc. released its “Mitigating Check Fraud Risk in the Modern Financial Ecosystem” report, which outlines check fraud categories and scenarios, evaluates detection and prevention tools and strategies, and details on education plans for financial institution employees and customers.
