Mastercard’s Merchant Cloud Debuts and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 10/14/25

  • Mastercard Inc. unveiled Merchant Cloud, a payments platform aimed at easing the way for businesses to conduct commerce globally while entering new markets and adopting new end-user technologies.
  • Block Inc. said it will work with food-delivery service Grubhub to overhaul restaurants’ ordering systems by integrating with Square’s point-of-sale platform and adding Cash App Pay as a payment option for Grubhub users.
  • Salesforce Inc. said it will work with Stripe Inc. and OpenAI to develop an instant checkout capability under the new Agentic Commerce Protocol. The move will allow merchants using Agentforce Commerce to leverage conversational AI to speed transactions.
  • Klarna AB announced its payment options are set to roll out across 17 markets in Europe for travelers booking flights on Qatar Airways. The move follows an agreement by which Klarna becomes a default payment option for Worldpay’s merchant network.
  • Futr Inc., which markets itself as Future, announced 5% cashback and $5 frequent-rider rewards for riders of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. The program supports the launch of Tap.Ride.Go, the transit system’s contactless fare system. Future issues the FutureCard Visa Debit Card.
  • The bill-pay technology company doxo announced its Private Pay Wallet, aimed at making consumer bill payments to more than 120,000 billers more secure.
  • Some 75% of consumers now opt for gift cards rather than merchandise for gifts during the holiday season, according to “Plastic Presents,” a gift card trend study from Bank of America and the research firm TSG. The research effort canvassed more than 1,000 U.S. consumers. 
  • The credit union service organization Reseda Group is investing $500,000 in Keyno, a payments-technology provider, in an effort to assist credit unions in fighting payments fraud by opening wider access to Keyno’s CVVkey technology.
  • Bitcoin Depot announced an agreement with the Independent Grocers Alliance under which IGA stores will have the option of enabling customers to access Bitcoin through Bitcoin Depot’s kiosks. Bitcoin Depot as of August operated more than 9,000 kiosks. The IGA claims more than 7,500 stores globally, including stores in 46 states.
