Marqeta Volume up 33% and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 5/6/26

  • Card-issuing platform Marqeta Inc. reported it processed $112 billion in transaction volume in the March quarter, up 33% year-over-year, generating revenue of $166 million, a 19% rise. Net income swung to a positive $8 million from an $8-million net loss a year ago.
  • MoneyGram will work with the crypto platform Kraken worldwide to allow Kraken users to withdraw cryptocurrency as cash in fiat currencies, exploiting MoneyGram’s cash pickup network.
  • MoonPay, a processor for both crypto and fiat transactions, said it has acquired DFlow, a crypto trading platform serving more than 1 million traders. Terms were not announced.
  • Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase said it will cut its workforce by 14%, or approximately 700 positions, because of artificial intelligence use that sped up operations, the company said in a blog post. Coinbase had more than 4,700 employees at the end of 2025.
  • Visa Inc. extended its Visa Agentic Ready program to card issuers in Canada. Based on Visa Intelligent Commerce, the program supports commerce driven by AI agents and is active in Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. The program complements Visa Intelligent Commerce, which has launched in the United States.
  • Mindtrip Inc., an AI-enabled travel planning platform, launched Mindtrip Flights that uses Sabre Mosaic technology and is integrated with PayPal Holdings Inc.’s agentic commerce services.
  • Workforce management software provider Branch launched TipCalc, an automated tip pooling and payout service for restaurants.
  • NCR Voyix Corp. said restaurant chain Pei Wei will update its point-of-sale systems to the Aloha Next product.
  • Fraud prevention services provider Riskified launched new tools to help merchants counter fraud. Among the services are Riskified ARIA, or AI Risk Intelligence Analyst, and Identity Explore 2.0.
