LG Pay To Shut Down and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/3/21

  • Not quite two years old, LG Pay, the mobile payment service from LG Electronics USA, is shutting down, according to a report on Droid-Life.com. It captured a screenshot of an alert declaring the service will be phased out and discontinued “over the remainder of 2021.” In April, LG announced it was exiting the global smart phone business, which it expects to complete by July 31.
  • EVO Payments Inc. announced the acquisition of Pago Fácil, an e-commerce gateway in Chile, in partnership with its joint venture with Banco de Crédito e Inversiones. Terms were not disclosed. EVO also said the joint venture received regulatory approval to operate. It was formed in 2020 under the Bci Pagos name.
  • Blackhawk Network Holdings Inc. said it is providing the disbursement of $50 digital incentives as part of California’s new $100 million You Call the Shot California program to motivate that state’s residents to get a Covid-19 vaccination by June 15, when the state intends to fully reopen.
  • Payment-software provider linked2pay has selected Android point-of-sale terminals from Pax Technology Inc. for an integrated payments platform allowing independent software vendors to more quickly weave card-present payment capability into their software.
  • Payments provider XTM Inc. said it has integrated its Today mobile app and prepaid card technology into Lightspeed POS Inc.’s payments platform, allowing merchants to generate earnings and gratuity data at the end of each shift and push earnings to each employee.
  • InComm Payments signed a distribution deal with ONroute, a convenience-store operator in Ontario, Canada, for its prepaid gift cards.
  • A notice on Apple Inc.’s System Status page says the company resolved a six-hour outage on Wednesday that might have prevented any Apple Card user from making transactions or seeing “recent transactions.”
  • Bluefin Payment Systems LLC announced Technotic Sports, which develops software for venues and events, will use Bluefin’s point-to-point encryption technology.
  • Gateway Cardknox said it now supports the Verifone Inc. P400 PIN pad.
