Klarna’s New Klarna Card and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/3/25

  • Klarna AB has unveiled Klarna Card, a debit card offering the choice to pay immediately or later. The product incorporates the Visa Flexible Credential technology from Visa Inc.
  • In other Visa news, the card network appointed Andrew Torre president of value-added services, replacing Antony Cahill, who has been appointed regional president and chief executive for Visa’s European business. Torre has served as Visa’s regional president for Central Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa since 2018.
  • The processor North said its Point & Pay unit has agreed to handle Riverside, Calif. residents’ taxes and local assessments online or over the phone through credit cards, debit cards, or e-checks. Longstanding processor North American Bancard rebranded itself as North in August last year.
  • FreedomPay Inc. announced it is processing transactions for coffee-shop chain Pret A Manger in the United States, United Kingdom, and Hong Kong, with a planned expansion to shops in Europe later this year. Pret A Manger operates 650 coffee shops globally.
  • GoodLeap LLC, a home technology provider, launched GoodLeap Payments, a service that enables contractors to accept multiple payment methods, including tap to pay on mobile devices, instant electronic check processing, and remote payment links.
  • Business services provider Xero Ltd. has added Tap to Pay on iPhone for its U.S. customers that process payments with Stripe.
  • Payments provider NMI said the Landi M20SE Android mobile point-of-sale device is now available as part of its tap to pay portfolio.
  • Mastercard Inc. said its initiative to tokenize online transactions and phase out manual card entry has advanced to nearly 50% of Mastercard e-commerce transactions in Europe being tokenized, an increase by more than 33% in the past year.
  • Identity verification and fraud prevention platform Trulioo said Trust Payments will use its products to unify its onboarding processes, support regulatory compliance, and improve the customer experience.
  • Electronic Merchant Systems promoted Randy Hayashi to chief operating officer. Hayashi had been vice president of strategy at EMS.
