In-Store Sales up 15.5% and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 8/5/21

  • Mastercard Inc. said in its latest SpendingPulse report in-store shopping ballooned 15.5% in July over July 2020 and accounted for 81.9% of total retail sales, excluding automotive. E-commerce sales for the month were up 6.1% from last year, but up 77.7% from July 2019.
  • Payments-technology provider ACI Worldwide Inc. announced an expanded agreement with Microsoft Corp. for cloud-based payment processing.
  • In related news, ACI reported June-quarter revenue of $302 million, up 1% year-over-year.
  • A startup called Geeq Corp. announced it is building a micropayments platform based on blockchain technology.
  • Synapse Inc., which provides a platform for banking-as-a-service, said it has introduced an application programming interface platform called Synapse Credit Hub, built on the Mastercard network.
  • CarAdvise, an online utility for car maintenance and repair, launched a refreshed mobile app with features including appointment scheduling and payments.
  • WEX Inc. launched the Mastercard-branded WEX Paycard, a platform that enables payroll in real time.
