Handpoint To Use MagicCube POS Technology and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/9/21

  • Point-of-sale technology provider Handpoint has agreed to adopt the i-Accept technology from MagicCube Inc. The technology allows merchants to accept card transactions on off-the-shelf mobile devices.
  • Citcon, a provider of mobile-wallet acceptance at the point of sale, has agreed to integrate its technology with that of Agilysys Inc., a vendor of point-of-sale technology for the hospitality industry. Citcon supports PayPal, Venmo, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and other wallets.
  • Gateway Cardknox debuted its Split Capture tool that enables e-commerce merchants to run multiple payment captures for a single transaction. Merchants can place a hold on the total transaction amount at the time of the sale and then initiate funding as each shipment is processed.
  • Identity security provider Sontiq said it acquired Breach Clarity, a data breach intelligence provider. Breach Clarity cofounder Jim Van Dyke joined Sontiq as senior vice president of digital financial wellness and fellow cofounder Al Pascual becomes senior vice president of data breach solutions. Terms were not disclosed.
  • USA Technologies Inc., a payments provider for the vending industry, announced general availability for Seed Cashless+, a vending-management platform for small and medium-size businesses with fewer than 400 machines.
  • Installment payments specialist Klarna AB updated its marketing services and products for retailers.
  • Fintech Social Finance (SoFi) has launched its first credit card, a Mastercard with no annual membership fee and a 1% rate reduction after 12 consecutive on-time payments.
  • Digital-payments platform Wirex Ltd. has launched a Mastercard debit card in the United Kingdom and Europe backed by eight digital and 10 fiat currencies.
  • Payments platform Dwolla named Dave Glaser its president and chief operating officer. Glaser most recently was senior vice president of global acceptance solutions at Mastercard Inc.
