MagTek Inc. is the latest point-of-sale equipment maker to make Tap to Pay on iPhone available on its devices. And, Elo will preview its new self-checkout platform, Wallaby SCO.
Seal Beach, Calif.-based MagTek says the contactless payment service Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available through its iOS Virtual Reader SDK for developers to integrate into their own applications. Tap to Pay on iPhone enables merchants to accept contactless payments with Apple Inc. iPhones without having to use external hardware. The NFC chips in the phone and the credit or debit cards securely communicate to complete a transaction. Apple launched the service in 2022.
MagTek says developers across multiple categories, including restaurants, retail, hospitality, health care, transportation, self-service equipment makers, and banking, can use the free SDK to incorporate Tap to Pay on iPhone.

In related news, Elo, which Zebra Technologies acquired in 2025, will demonstrate its new Wallaby SCO platform next week at NRF 2026.
Wallaby SCO is designed for high-volume retail, grocery, and convenience-store operators. Elo says Wallaby SCO is meant to provide a consistent self-checkout experience across locations while maintaining uptime.
Elo also has other new products coming, including the Z30 Tap to Pay Android-based point-of-sale terminal that features a 15.6-inch merchant-facing screen and a 10.1-inch consumer-facing one.
Other devices include a minicomputer, called Backpack with Intel that can be connected to Elo touchscreens up to 65 inches to make them interactive systems. It will support digital signage, retail media networks, self-service kiosk, point-of-sale capabilities, kitchen display systems, and automation controls. Elo also will release a 10-key keypad that can be programmed and attached to Elo touchscreens.
