Eye on Point of Sale: PushX Hospitality Debuts; SurgePays Completes PAX Integration

Hospitality platform provider PushX Inc. will launch its new mobile-payments and offers platform with a bar crawl it says is designed to showcase the customer experience, how merchants can push offers, and how it could enable faster service.

Chicago-based PushX says the hospitality platform, announced Tuesday, can help consumers discover deals, pay for drinks via a smart phone, and redeem purchases with digital drink tickets. A mobile app for PushX is listed in the Apple App Store.

Consumers purchase a drink directly from the venue’s in-app menu using the mobile wallet, Jarrett Odorisi, PushX chief executive and cofounder, tells Digital Transactions News. They present the mobile ticket as proof of the transaction to order the beverage. There is no pre-ordering, he says. On the bartender side, the proof of purchase is used to begin making the drink and redeem the order.

PushX says the app can reduce bartender payment handling by up to 80%, which could mean faster service and more drink sales. For venues, PushX enables targeted promotions and personalized experiences, which it says can help make patrons more willing to return.

In a case study, a Columbia, S.C. bar said the average transaction time dropped from 83 seconds to 7.8 seconds with the PushX app and its point-of-sale revenue increased by an average of 23.8%.

To help promote its service, the company is working with several bars in the River North neighborhood of Chicago on a holiday bar crawl. Participants will receive exclusive drink deals in the PushX app. PushX also says it is seeking investors.

In other point-of-sale news, Bartlett, Tenn.-based SurgePays Inc., a technology and telecommunications company, completed an integration of its ClearLine POS marketing platform with PAX Technology’s smart POS terminals.

ClearLine enables merchants to present personalized offers to customers at the point of purchase. Merchants can activate the ClearLine app on the PAX device. The app can present tailored marketing messages on the payment terminal’s screen and have real-time interaction during a payment. ClearLine also has post-transaction actions and can generate dynamic QR codes on receipts, along with real-time campaign tracking.
