Bot Attacks up 41% and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 9/14/21

  • Bot attack volumes increased 41% year-over-year in the first half of 2021, according to the latest Cybercrime Report from LexisNexis Risk Solutions.
  • Outseer, an RSA Security LLC company, said its 3-D Secure technology has processed $100 billion in transactions to date in 2021. It also released its third quarter “Fraud & Payments Report.”
  • TD Bank has joined the Akoya Data Access Network, an open-banking initiative that relies on an application programming interface for data access. Akoya is owned by a group of major financial institutions, including TD Bank.
  • Fortis Payment Systems LLC said it acquired OmniFund, a cloud-based payments-as-a-platform provider. Terms were not disclosed.
  • PopID, a payments-technology provider that uses facial-recognition for authentication, is handling payments for Bobacino, a provider of automated coffee kiosks.
  • Bill-payment technology provider Paymentus said GLDS, a customer management and billing services provider for the broadband industry, will offer Paymentus services, including digital wallet payments, to its clients.
  • QuikQ, a payments provider for gasoline retailers, said it will work with card-based payment platform Moca to expand QuikQ’s fuel card offerings.
  • Sports-technology and equipment developer Slinger said its Foundation Tennis technology platform has joined Square Inc.’s App Partner Program, an initiative in which developers create products that complement Square’s payment services.
  • Nacha, the automated clearing house governing body, launched DirectDepositDelivers.org, a Web site to detail how ACH transactions are used by U.S. government agencies.
  • The Electronic Transactions Association released a list of its “Five Guiding Principles for Crypto” for lawmakers and regulators.
  • The Western Union Co. appointed long-time American Express Co. executive Gabriella Fitzgerald president for the Americas region, reporting directly to chief executive Hikmet Ersek.
