Amazon’s Cobranded Card Revenue up And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/28/23

  • Amazon.com Inc. reported first-quarter revenue from “other sources” of $1.03 billion, up 55% year-over-year. The “other” category includes revenue from the massive online retailer’s cobranded credit cards. Total revenue from products and services for the quarter was $127.4 billion, up 9.5% year-over-year.
  • Law firm BakerHostetler released its 2023 Data Security Incident Response Report that found network intrusion accounted for 45% of the more than 1,160 incidents analyzed for the report. Next was business email compromise at 30% and inadvertent disclosure at 12%.
  • MoneyGram International Inc. announced it has launched its MoneyGram Online service in Chile, initially with no transaction fees for consumers. The service enables users to send funds from MoneyGram’s Web site or from a mobile app.
  • Stripe Inc. said merchants that switched to its Payment Element integration experienced a 10.5% increase in revenue compared to its merchants that remained on the previous integration model.
  • The county of Santa Cruz in California signed with Humbl Inc. to support a blockchain-based digital wallet for registrations for bicycle and RV parking and other transactions.
