Money-movement specialist Alacriti wants to make it easier for banks and credit unions to use its service to enable the Zelle peer-to-peer payment service. That’s why it’s added Zelle to its Orbipay Payments Hub, a platform for financial institutions.
Zelle, the P2P payment service from Early Warning Services LLC, had a banner year in 2024 with a record $1 trillion in dollar volume. Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Early Warning hopes its recently launched marketing campaign, “When It Counts,” contributes to additional growth.
Bridgewater N.J.-based Alacriti says the integration into Orbipay will provide Fis with a centralized reporting and operations channel, support for consumer and business users, built-in fraud mitigation tools, and the ability to implement Zelle independent of a core or digital-banking platform. In July, Zelle says it added 178 Fis in the first six months of 2025.

Alacriti says it made the integration because of customer demand. “Consumers and small businesses rely on these services daily, and usage continues to climb each year. If financial institutions allow these transactions to occur on outside platforms, they risk losing their role as the primary wallet—along with customer relationships, deposits, and valuable debit card revenue,” Mark Majeske, Alacriti senior vice president of faster payments, tells Digital Transactions News in an email. “Due to the frequent use of P2P, consumers engage more with their financial institutions, allowing them to offer them other products and increase loyalty,” he says.
Another factor is the ability to make the integration of Zelle easier via Orbipay. Majeske says Orbipay is cloud native and core agnostic. That means it can deploy Zelle regardless of the core banking system, reducing disruptions and changes to the core platform. Orbipay also provides integrations with RTP, FedNow, ACH, and wire payments. A third factor of the Zelle integration ability is another opportunity to create a unified payments service, which can make it easier for Fis to manage their payment options, he says.

Majeske says ease of integration is a key differentiator for Alacriti. “Unlike traditional options that require a complex and costly integration with the FI’s core banking system, our Orbipay Payments Hub eliminates that dependency entirely. An FI can launch Zelle with us without any disruptive changes or upgrades to their core or digital banking, which dramatically reduces implementation time and expense,” he says.
And it helps Early Warning because adding Zelle via Orbipay can be simpler for banks and credit unions, as many other integrations are dependent on the bank’s core processing platform, he says. Alacriti views the integration as not just another payment option, but as another way to expand access to Zelle, Majeske says. Many Alacriti clients that are not already offering Zelle are prime customers for the new integration.
