ACI Picks New CEO And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 5/31/23

  • ACI Worldwide Inc. named Thomas Warsop its president and chief executive effective June 1. Warsop continues to be a member of ACI’s board of directors, which he joined eight years ago. He had served as interim president and CEO since November following the departure of Odilon Almeida, who held that role since March 2020.
  • Pavilion Payments, a payments provider concentrating on casinos, launched its iGaming Software Development Kit, intended for casino operators.
  • Sift, a provider of anti-fraud technology, released several new tools, including Starter Workflows, which enables businesses to automate risk-based decisions on large volumes of transactions.
  • NomuPay, formed by investors out of certain assets of the failed German payments company Wirecard, says it has raised $53.6 million since its founding in 2021 by Finch Capital.
  • Cheq, a provider of mobile payments for restaurants and stadiums, said it will provide payments technology this summer for the Bite of Seattle festival.
  • Some 2.6 billion smart cards and modules were delivered globally in 2022 by members of the Smart Payment Association, a trade body for the smart card industry. The shipment volume returned the industry to pre-Covid levels despite chip shortages, the association added. Contactless cards accounted for 84% of the total.
  • Total spend on digital prepaid cards globally will exceed $3.98 trillion by 2028, up from $528.7 billion this year and amounting to 60% of all prepaid card spend, up from a 15% share in 2023, according to a report from Juniper Research.
  • Cardinal Health, a pharmaceuticals and medical and laboratory products distributor, debuted a payments service for independent pharmacies built on Square point-of-sale technology. Users get access to an in-store payment service, an e-commerce site, and analytics.
  • E-commerce platform Radial Inc. announced its rebranded Radial Payment Solutions to help merchants with payment processing, tax compliance, and fraud prevention.
  • Digital River Inc. appointed John Burke senior vice president of revenue. Prior to this position Burke held management spots at Deloitte LLP, Oracle Corp., and SAP Americas Inc.
