- Consumer restaurant spending was up 4% in the first quarter, compared to a 7% increase in the 2021 first quarter, according to The NPD Group in a new report.
- Shift4 Payments Inc. has expanded its office in Lithuania, its only outpost in Europe, from a roster of two to more than 260 and is planning to add another 70 in coming months, the company said.
- The Western Union Co. said it is adding cross-border money transfers to the services it offers through the UK Post Office, which has more than 11,500 branches in the United Kingdom.
- In related news, Western Union reported a 4% year-over-year drop in first-quarter 2022 revenue, to $1.16 billion, including a 5% decline in consumer-to-consumer revenue, to $999 million. The decline in overall quarterly revenue follows five straight quarters of gains.
