- Visa Inc.’s Back to Business study found 82% of small businesses plan to accept some form of digital payment in 2022, with 24% saying they plan to accept digital currencies like Bitcoin. The study canvassed 2,250 small-business owners and employees in nine countries, including the United States.
- Payments provider Lightspeed Commerce Inc. said its merchants saw their same-store sales increase 35% in 2021 over 2020, compared to an industry average of 18%. The growth in the hospitality segment was 52%, against an industry average of 31%.
- Cubic Transportation Systems has been awarded a second contract from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to provide and update a fare-payment system for the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) line, which connects the two states. The new system is expected to be fully deployed by early 2024.
- Unattended payments specialist Cantaloupe Inc. formed the Cantaloupe International Partners program, an effort to expand its services outside of the United States.
- MoneyGram International Inc. said users in Japan of the Smiles mobile app can send money via MoneyGram’s rails to more than 200 countries and territories. The arrangement stems from a deal between MoneyGram and fintech Digital Wallet Corp., owner of Smiles Mobile Remittance, a money-transfer and digital wallet service in Japan.
- The fintech Prosper Marketplace Inc. launched the Prosper Card, a Mastercard credit card issued by Coastal Community Bank. The card comes with the My Prosper Card app.
- Square Inc. said on-demand delivery for Square Online orders if now available in Canada through DoorDash Drive.
- Blackhawk Network Holdings Inc. named Selim Aissi its chief information security officer. Aissi previously worked at ICE Mortgage Technology and at Visa Inc.
- Payments and banking technology provider i2c Inc. named Serena Smith its chief client officer. Her career includes positions at RealPage, Texas Capital Bank, and FIS Inc.
