- Payrailz LLC, a payments provider for financial institutions, said it will pilot Mastercard Inc.’s Bill Pay Exchange, a real-time bill-payment service.
- Facebook Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google unit claimed the first and second slots on Dashlane Inc.’s annual list of “worst password offenders” in 2019, Facebook for exposing passwords linked to “hundreds of millions” of users, and Google for admitting that it had been storing some passwords in plain text since 2005. Dashlane is a provider of password-management software.
- Card-issuing platform Marqeta Inc. said it will issue its 140-millionth card before year’s end, which it says would be good enough to rank the company among the 25 largest U.S. issuers of payment cards if all of its separate programs were consolidated.
- Klarna AB, a provider of installment credit options at the point of sale, has signed women’s fashion retailer Good American for payments online and in-store at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales’, and Selfridges, among other merchants.
- MoneyGram International Inc. said a partnership with fintech Brightwell will enable cruise-line workers to send money home using MoneyGram within the Brightwell app.
- Chip developer NXP Semiconductors N.V. announced it will demonstrate a mobile payment in Japan using its Ultra Wideband solution, which is a technology that can pinpoint a phone’s location that can then be used to deliver local marketing offers. Apple Inc.’s iPhone 11 series of phones have an Ultra Wideband chip.
