Walgreens Banks on InComm and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/30/21

  • The Walgreens pharmacy chain said it will launch a bank-account offering through payments provider InComm Payments that will also feature a MetaBank-issued Mastercard debit card that will allow users to earn rewards through the Walgreens loyalty program. The pharmacy chain will also re-launch its gift card program through InComm.
  • In related news, InComm Payments said it joined the Mako VPN Cloud Partner Program, which enables retailers using Mako, which is a PCI-certified network for distributed enterprises, to connect to InComm Payments for gift card processing services.
  • Christopher Sembroski of Everett, Wash., and Sian Proctor, Tempe, Ariz., were announced as the final two members of the first all-civilian crew set to fly a spacecraft later this year on a flight dubbed Inspiration4. Crew member Hayley Arceneaux was announced earlier. The fourth member, Shift4 Payments Inc. chief executive Jared Isaacman, will command the mission.
  • PayByPhone Technologies Inc. said users of its mobile parking app will be able to pay for parking at Miami Marlins games through an arrangement with the Miami Parking Authority.
  • The mobile app provider GasBuddy said its Pay with GasBuddy service, launched in 2017, has attracted more than 1 million users. The service includes a payment card linked to a checking account and offers discounts on fuel purchases.
  • Mobile-commerce provider Sionic Mobile Corp. said it is working with ForumPay, a payments gateway specializing in linking crypto users with merchants, to offer tokenized, end-to-end processing services through Sionic’s platforms.
  • Processor Nuvei Corp. said it now supports payments made with almost 40 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, NEO, and Ripple.
  • Restaurant commerce platform GoTab Inc. said it is integrating gift vouchers, known as house accounts, from inKind as a form of payment. InKind buys food and beverage credits in bulk from restaurants and then sells the credit to consumers.
  • Mobile payment provider Tappit said it and TicketSocket, which provides a white label ticketing, registration, and event-management platform, will work together on a cashless payment service for venues and events of all sizes.
  • Atlantic-Pacific Processing Systems NV Corp. said the Grand Sierra Resort is now a client.
