Visa May Lower Interchange for SMBs and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/4/22

  • Visa Inc. will decrease interchange rates by 10% for small businesses accepting consumer credit cards in April, according to a Reuters report. The reduced rates will apply to online and card-present transactions and only to merchants with $250,000 or less in Visa consumer credit volumes, Reuters attributed its information to an undisclosed source.
  • Restaurant-technology provider ParTech Inc. said it has agreed to adopt digital-commerce technology from CardFree Inc. for its BrinkPOS system. The CardFree system includes ordering, mobile payments, loyalty, and customer-engagement components.
  • Payments provider Nuvei Corp. said it will support Scout Gaming’s expansion into the U.S. market with online payment processing for Scout’s fantasy sports app, FanTeam.
  • Some 46% of parents said in a survey by LendingTree that their children under the age of 18 had used the father’s or mother’s credit or debit card without permission, up from 29% in a similar survey in 2018. The January study embraced 1,051 parents with children younger than 18.
  • Fraud-protection provider ThetaRay named Peter Reynolds its chief revenue officer. Reynolds has more than 20 years of experience selling enterprise software to financial institutions.
