Visa Acceptance Cloud Debuts and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 1/13/22

  • Visa Inc. announced a new payment platform, Visa Acceptance Cloud, which will let acquirers, payment service providers, point-of-sale system makers, and Internet of Things developers, to move the payment processing software from the hardware device to the computing cloud. Tests of the new platform are happening in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
  • Mastercard Inc. announced partnerships with BMO (Bank of Montreal) and processor Moneris Solutions Corp. for its Mastercard Track Business Payment Service, a program intended to ease business-to-business payments. The program will become available to Canadian businesses early this year.
  • Processor Checkout.com said it raised $1 billion in Series D funding from a slate of nine investors, valuing the company at $40 billion. It anticipates using the funds for further U.S. expansion, developing its technology, and working toward evolving Web standards.
  • FundThrough Inc., whose technology speeds invoice payments for businesses, said it has acquired the invoice-factoring business of BlueVine Capital Inc., a provider of financial services to small firms. Terms were not announced.
  • Coupa Software said it will work with HSBC to offer its Coupa Pay program to firms in Europe, starting with the company’s Coupa Pay virtual cards.
  • Fuelman Inc. unveiled technology to allow fleet operators to pay for electric-vehicle charging, including reimbursement to employees for at-home charging. Fuelman is a unit of payments provider Fleetcor Technologies.
  • One Inc, a payments provider for the insurance industry, said property and casualty provider Mercury Insurance has launched One Inc’s ClaimsPay service for claims disbursement.
  • Mastercard named Harit Talwar an independent director, effective April 1. Talwar’s experience includes development of the Marcus consumer business for Goldman Sachs and service as chief marketing officer for Discover Financial Services.
  • Payments provider Valor PayTech named Marty McMullian its director of sales. McMullian’s career includes stints at Sound Payments, PAX Technology, Charge Anywhere, OTI America, and Hypercom.
