Uber Readies Its Pro Card And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 10/6/22

  • The ride-share provider Uber is working with card-issuing platform Marqeta and fintech bank Branch to launch the Uber Pro Card, aimed at allowing drivers and couriers to earn cash back on gas, fees, and other costs. The card will be enabled through digital wallets.
  • London-based International Game Technology PLC has expanded operations in the increasingly competitive U.S. casino-payments market with its Resort Wallet and IGTPay platforms, which have been added at Indigo Sky & Outpost Casino in Oklahoma.
  • ZenLedger, a provider of tax and accounting services related to cryptocurrency, said it is using BitPay’s platform to allow users to pay with crypto.
  • The Strawhecker Group, a payments-research firm, said it has acquired Global NetWatch, whose software tracks networks and card transactions. Terms were not announced.
  • Nubeva Technologies, whose technology decrypts data for clients victimized by ransomware attacks, announced it has decrypted Ragnar Locker ransomware for an unnamed “billion-dollar” company, recovering all affected data within 24 hours.
  • ParkMobile’s parking-payment app has replaced the incumbent provider in Iowa City, Iowa, for 2,200 spaces, including spaces at the University of Iowa. The app claims 151,000 users in the state.
  • American Express Co. has elected former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Jay Clayton to its board of directors.
