Transit App Gets Onboard and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 1/18/21

  • The Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority in Reading, Pa., will launch its Go Mobile payment app Jan. 26, allowing riders to use a mobile device to pay for bus fares and passes. The app was developed by Modeshift Inc., a specialist in technology for transit agencies.
  • Bestpass, a processor of toll payments for commercial fleets, said its volume reached $1.2 billion in 2020, up 20% over 2019, on 100 million transactions. It finished the year with 650,000 deployed transponders across 10,000 clients.
  • Payments provider Mogo Inc. said its shareholders approved the company’s acquisition of Carta Solutions Holding Corp., a digital-payments platform provider. The transaction, for which terms were not announced, is expected to close later this month.
  • RevoluGroup Canada Inc. announced it has launched its free RevoluPOS app for Apple and Android devices. The app allows merchants to accept payments on personal devices.
  • German semiconductor maker Infineon Technologies AG is replacing employee ID cards at its headquarters with Mastercard cards that combine building access with a contactless capability.
