Taptap Send Raises $65 Million and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/20/21

  • Taptap Send, a startup providing instant-payment capability for cross-border transfers, announced a $65-million Series B funding round led by Spark Capital. Its total financing now tops $80 million.
  • Humboldt State University will adopt the Passport Parking app for on-campus parking beginning Jan. 18, announced Passport Parking.
  • The Center for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery said it will accept cryptocurrency as payment for treatments beginning in January, though which ones was not disclosed.
  • Crunchfish Digital Cash AB announced an architecture for its wallets that maintains payment availability in cases of service disruption or server congestion.
  • Payments provider Checkout.com appointed Meron Colbeci chief product officer. Colbeci comes to the company from Meta Inc. (formerly Facebook), where he was head of consumer product management for Novi (formerly Calibra), Meta’s digital-currency wallet. Colbeci’s experience also includes roles at PayPal and SoFi.
