SpotOn To Acquire Appetize and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 9/13/21

  • Commerce specialists SpotOn Transact LLC said it will acquire Appetize Technologies Inc., a point-of-sale technology provider for the hospitality and entertainment industries. Terms were not disclosed. SpotOn also said it raised $300 million in Series E funding, which it will use to help pay for the Appetize acquisition.
  • Integrated-payments provider EngageSmart LLC announced an initial public offering of common stock. The offering is expected to fetch a price between $23 and $25 per share. The company specializes in the health, government, utilities, financial-services and giving verticals.
  • Innovative Payment Solutions announced the “soft launch” of an app called Beyond Wallet. The app’s current features are a Visa debit card and the ability to send cash from the United States to Mexico.
  • Payments-technology provider Allied Payment Network is working with financial-services platform Finastra and New York Digital Investment Group (NYDIG) to launch Alled Bitcoin Wallet, a service that helps financial institutions offer a platform to let customers buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin.
  • Jeff Brodsley, who founded the payments provider Chosen Payments in 2008, has started 100Group, a service aimed at helping business owners find the services they need to operate.
  • Sphere, a specialist in health-care payments, said it will process payments through the InstaHealth medical-records platform from Saina Health.
  • American Express Co. said its Resy hospitality platform will offer CLEAR Health Pass technology for free through 2022 to all restaurants using the Resy service. The Health Pass enables managers to manage health and safety protocols digitally.
  • The app-based challenger bank Bunq B.V. said it will work with payments provider Paysafe Ltd.’s Paysafecash service to provide its customers with the ability to fund bunq accounts using cash. The service is available in 21 European countries to start.
  • Former Worldpay and TSYS executive Christina Ziegler has joined payments-advisory firm Merchant’s PACT as chief product officer.
