SMBs Value Digital Payments More Than a Year Ago and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/29/21

  • A survey from the Electronic Transactions Association and The Strawhecker Group found that 43% of small and mid-size businesses view digital payments as more important to their operations now than before the Covid-19 pandemic. The survey of 528 SMBs also found that 34% said they are experiencing an increase in contactless payments.
  • InComm Payments launched TheGiftCardShop.com, a full-service gift card mall. Consumers can select gift cards from more than 100 brands and send them directly to recipients via email. By the end of 2021, the site will begin offering delivery of physical gift cards.
  • Digital-banking services provider Apiture said the Zelle person-to-person payment service is now available to financial institutions that use Apiture.
  • Fortú has launched its digital bank account focused on Latino and Hispanic U.S. residents. Galileo Financial Technologies LLC said the banking provider uses its payment processing platform. Additionally, Cardtronics plc said Fortú offers access to the Cardtronics Allpoint network of 55,000 surcharge-free ATMs
  • Payments provider Gr4vy announced its payment orchestration platform is now live. It also closed on $11.1 million in Series A funding
  • Alliance Data Systems Corp. said its Bread point-of-sale financing service will be available to merchants using merchant acquiring services from processor Fiserv Inc.
  • Fintech Deserve launched its Digital First Card, a mobile-centric card bearing the Mastercard Inc. mark. It is available now in the Apple store and will soon be available for Android devices.
  • Paysafe Group signed a multiyear agreement to use cloud computing services from Amazon Web Services for some of its payments products, including paysafecard and digital wallets Skrill and Netteller.
  • First American Payment Systems L.P. promoted Chris Yurko to vice president of integrated payments, a new position in the company. Yurko joined First American in 2018 and prior to that was director of strategic partnerships at Worldpay. First American last week agreed to be acquired by Deluxe Corp. for $960 million.
