SMBs Give AI A Try And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 5/26/23

  • Some 38% of U.S. small businesses have tried generative AI tools—27% for fun and another 11% to run their businesses—according to an April survey of 1,003 businesses by Web-site provider and payments platform GoDaddy Inc. Such payments companies as Stripe Inc. have incorporated chatGPT, a form of generative AI, to support their businesses.
  • Payments-technology provider EML Payments Ltd. said it is working with Visa Inc. to offer private-label digital gift cards for U.S. and Canadian shopping centers.
  • UniCredit, a Milan-based pan-European banking company, said it will work with Mastercard Inc. to support 13 banks in 12 countries with 20 million cards in circulation.
  • Circle Internet Financial Inc. has launched its euro-based stablecoin Euro Coin on the Avalanche smart-contracts platform.
  • Bottlepay, a 4-year-old United Kingdom-based consumer app supporting Bitcoin transactions, said it will close July 24. Users have until that date to withdraw their funds. Otherwise, funds will be converted to fiat money and sent to users’ bank accounts.
  • The Digital Currency Monetary Authority, a cryptocurrency advocacy organization, started a test of a point-to-point digital cash service of Unicoin in Latin America and Africa.
