- Scooter’s Coffee, a drive-through chain with more than 900 locations in 32 states, is using restaurant-payments specialist Olo to run its digital-ordering service, Olo announced.
- SumUp has launched U.S. POS Plus, a subscription-based point-of-sale technology offering for small café and restaurant businesses.
- Square, the merchant services arm of Block Inc., said its sellers now can connect their locations to Apple Business from their Square Dashboard. Apple Business lets merchants manage their information across Apple Maps, Siri AI, Apple Wallet, and other Apple apps. In related Block news, users of Cash App, the P2P payments and financial services app, can now designate cash as a direct deposit destination for employers using the Workday human resources management app.
- Data from Paze, the online wallet from Early Warning Services LLC, found that 34% of consumers cited too many checkout steps as a reason for reconsidering or abandoning an online checkout. Thirty percent said being required to create an account also would make them bounce while 27% said resetting a password was enough to not complete the transaction. Paze surveyed 500 consumers.
- Mastercard Inc. forecasted that U.S. 2026 holiday retail sales could increase 5.5% over 2025 between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24. Mastercard said that would be the strongest growth since 2022. E-commerce sales are predicted to grow 11% year-over-year and in-store sales by 3.6%.
- Technology company Kyance launched a platform to allow merchants to verify and score AI agents shopping on behalf of consumers. The service confirms the person behind the agent and keeps evidence in case of later disputes.
- Stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and central bank digital currencies will account for 4% of all global payments volume by 2030, shaving $230 billion off of global bank revenue by then, according to the “World Payments Report 2027” from Capgemini Research Institute.
- Solaris, a Europe-based banking-as-a-service provider, has gone live on ACI Connetic, a payments-orchestration platform developed by the processor ACI Worldwide Inc.
- Payments and investment platform Bybit announced its “Make Your Move” campaign, a global marketing effort to move the company beyond its roots in cryptocurrency trading. Bybit claims 80 million users globally.
- Payments-technology provider Flywire Corp. has named former Google executive Sabrina Farmer to its board of directors. Farmer is corporate vice president of the commerce platform at Microsoft.
