- Ria Money Transfer, a subsidiary of Euronet Worldwide Inc., said it has an agreement with Belgian Postal Service group (bpost) to offer international money-transfer services through bpost’s network of 600 post offices.
- Restaurant The Crack Shack Enterprises LLC issued a data-breach notification for its Encinitas, Calif., location. Payment card information, including names, card numbers, expiration dates, and possibly card verification codes were captured by malware installed on a server used to process point-of-sale card data. The breach is thought to have happened from Aug. 19, 2018, to Sept. 23, 2019.
- Tokenized mobile payments will exceed $40 billion in revenue by 2024, forecasts Juniper Research. Of that, more than $30 billion will come from e-commerce and not contactless payments at the point of sale.
- A cryptocurrency called Bitcoin SV is set to emerge Feb. 4 in a hard fork from the existing Bitcoin blockchain. The backers of Bitcoin SV claim the new coin more closely adheres to Bitcoin’s original design, introduced in 2009, and will feature no limit on the chain’s block cap, allowing for higher transaction capacity.
