- PayPal Holdings Inc. said PayPal merchants are now discoverable within the Perplexity AI service, which enables consumers to checkout in chat using their PayPal accounts. PayPal announced the partnership in May.
- SoundHound AI Inc. said its partnership with parking services provider Parkopedia now includes an in-vehicle voice AI parking agent. The agent can suggest parking near a destination and present real-time availability and pricing options.
- Payments provider Checkout.com said it now supports the Agentic Commerce Protocol, which artificial intelligence engine OpenAI and processor Stripe Inc. co-developed as an open standard.
- Processor Lightspeed Commerce Inc. launched Lightspeed Tempo, technology that is said to manage the pacing of various functions at restaurants—including customer seating, meal preparation, and presenting checks—to smooth service to customers.
- Cryptocurrency platform Exodus Movement Inc. said it has agreed to pay $175 million to acquire W3C Corp., parent company of Monavate Holdings Ltd. and Baanx.com Ltd., both of which offer card and payments technology for fintechs and cryptocurrency clients.
- The Swift global financial network announced the ISO 20022 standard for cross-border payments has been adopted globally on its system, with the last switchover occurring Nov. 22. The work started in 2018 with Swift’s decision to enable the standard, which is expected to allow for faster payments carrying more data.
- Payments processor Thredd Group Limited said it will adopt Visa Inc.’s Visa Cloud Connection globally. VCC enables links to Visa’s VisaNet payments network via cloud-based technology.
- ACI Worldwide Inc. forecasted that the average value of a friendly fraud transaction during the holiday season will rise 21% compared to last year, to $291. Such transactions, which occur when customers dispute legitimate payments as if they were fraudulent, totaled $103 billion last year, ACI says, citing recent reports.
- A survey of 1,000 adults ages 28 to 44 from NMI found that 80% wish retailers offered more technology to skip checkout lines in stores and more payment options, such as digital wallet acceptance. Seventy-four percent said they are more likely to shop online when retailers offer frictionless checkout or one-click payment, NMI said. The survey was completed earlier in November.
- Nacha indicated vendor-fraud prevention firm Trustpair SAS has been designated a Nacha Preferred Partner for the Account Validation/Fraud Monitoring/ Risk and Fraud Prevention category. Nacha is the rule-setting body for the automated clearing house payments network.
