OLB Group Adds Payments Through Social Media Apps To Its Gateway

Payments provider The OLB Group Inc. announced Tuesday that its SecurePay payment gateway will support payment acceptance through social-media applications without requiring consumers to leave the app.

To enable payments through such apps as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, TikTok and Skype, OLB is leveraging the application-programming interfaces for social-media platforms to connect its gateway to them. The direct connection allows consumers to enter their payment information through the app without having to the leave the app. Authorization for the transaction is returned to merchants through the app.

“We want to give merchants the ability to accept any form of payment [that consumers want to use] and this facilitates the ease of selling within social-media apps,” says OLB chief executive Ronny Yakov.

Yakov: “We want to help merchants do business across multiple channels.”

The move to support payments through these apps is part of OLB’s overall strategy to offer merchants a broader portfolio of alternatives to help run their business, as well as accept payments. In addition to payments, OLB offers business-management applications that help merchants run their back office and manage inventory, for example.

“We want to help merchants do business across multiple channels,” says Yakov. “Our approach is to keep our offerings friendly and simple.”

In the coming months, New York City-based OLB plans to add to its gateway new capabilities geared toward small and local businesses. Last month, the company added cryptocurrency acceptance at the point of sale regardless of the merchant platform.
