Nuvei To Acquire Mazooma for $56 Million and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/16/21

  • Payments provider Nuvei Corp. has agreed to acquire Mazooma Technical Services Inc., a payment-technology provider for sports betting, for $56 million plus additional consideration upon achievement of performance criteria.
  • Payments fintech Mogo Inc. has closed on its acquisition of a nearly 20% interest in digital-asset trading platform Coinsquare Ltd.
  • The Clipper app, introduced by Cubic Transportation Systems and San Francisco’s Metropolitan Transportation System, is now available on iPhones and Apple Watches to pay fares on trains, buses, and ferries. A Google Pay version is expected next month.
  • PayPal Holdings Inc. is the first digital wallet to link with Paidy, a Japan-based buy now, pay later provider for some 700,000 online merchants, through a new facility called Paidy Link.
  • MoneyGram International Inc. reported its MoneyGram Online service achieved an all-time high in cross-border transactions in March, a number that represented a 131% year-over-year growth. The company did not disclose the actual number.
  • ParTech Inc., a provider of point-of-sale systems to the restaurant industry, announced it has completed more than 200 integrations for its Brink POS product.
  • Gateway eProcessing Network said processor Electronic Payment Exchange certified it to accept and process multiple payment types through the EPX platform.
  • Payments provider Paya Holdings Inc. appointed Oni Chukwu to its board of directors. Chukwu’s experience includes positions at Aventri, Triple Point Technology, and Netkey.
