- A survey of 1,000 U.S. adults found 73% will shop at a store for gifts this holiday season, but 13% will also use a virtual assistant, such as Siri or Alexa. Some 57% will use a computer and 42% a mobile device, according to the poll, conducted by merchant processor Citi Retail Services.
- Bottomline Technologies Inc. reported revenues of $102.4 million for its first quarter of fiscal 2019 ended Sept. 30, up 12% from $91.3 million a year earlier. The business-payments and financial-technology provider reported a net loss of $918,000 versus a $4.24 million loss in the year-earlier quarter.
- Independent sales organization Bluefin Payment Systems LLC said it added a number of point-to-point encrypting devices and applications to its listing of products validated by the PCI Security Standards Council.
- Ant Financial Services Group’s Alipay announced it signed an eight-year agreement to be the official payment partner, global digital wallet, and global fintech partner for the Union of European Football Associations. Alipay claims 700 million active users in China for its mobile wallet and has been using partnerships to build out an acceptance network in the United States for Chinese tourists.
