- Mastercard Inc. released what it says is its first music album, featuring 10 songs that include the melody of the card network’s advertising. The album was launched at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
- Processor Jack Henry & Associates said more than 250 financial institutions are now using its platform, JHS PayCenter, to tap into The Clearing House’s RTP network and the Zelle network for real-time payments.
- Payments provider Klarna AB announced users can now store physical loyalty cards as digital versions in the Klarna app. The new capability relies on technology from Stocard, a mobile-wallet provider Klarna acquired last year.
- A gift-card startup called Totus is launching with what it says are 12 leading brands from a range of industries. It is backed by angel investors and is led by chief executive and co-founder Dave Jones, a veteran of Blackhawk Network, BillMatrix, Fiserv, and JPMorgan Chase.
- Some 67% of U.S. consumers now regularly make contactless payments with a credit or debit card, while 9% say all of their transactions are now contactless, according to research from payments provider Paysafe Ltd. Sapio Research conducted the study among 2,000 U.S. consumers in April.
- Payments provider Paya Holdings Inc. said it will process for Promise, a software-as-a-service-based provider of payments services for government agencies.
- Email security platform Abnormal Security reported a rising number of incidents of criminals impersonating vendors in cases of business email compromise. These cases now outnumber those in which threat actors impersonate employees, the company said.
- EMVCo, the EMV governing body, said it extended the certification of DexProtector, a software protection tool for both iOS and Android platforms.
- Payments-technology provider Valor PayTech has added several new products and enhancements, including dual pricing for card vs. cash, Valor Connect for cloud integration, Valor RCKT (a mobile point of sale device), and Valor Lite, tokenized payment acceptance using QR codes.
