Garmin Pay on Another Watch And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/12/23

  • Garmin Ltd. launched its latest smart watch, the $450 Instinct 2X Solar, which like most of its devices includes Garmin Pay, the company’s contactless-payment capability.
  • ParkHub, a specialist in digital payments for parking, announced an agreement under which it will process payments at three venues owned by sports and live-entertainment company AEG, including Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., and Texas Trust CU Theater at Grand Prairie in Texas.
  • CanPay, a payments platform for the cannabis industry, launched a loyalty program called CanPay Points Rewards. The points can be used at any of the more than 1,000 stores where CanPay is accepted.
  • The payments provider Qolo said it will provide application programming interfaces for API-based payment services and virtual accounts at KeyBank.
  • Money-transfer service Wise and Bluevine, a provider of banking services to small businesses, announced an “all-in-one digital banking account” aimed at making cross-border payments easier for Bluevine customers.
  • Payments-industry information resource ePay Resources will work with ATM-industry trade group ATMIA on education and training initiatives.
  • Bitcoin ATM deployer Lux Vending LLC, which does business as Bitcoin Depot, said it will take over a contract from an unnamed rival deployer for Jackson Food Stores, a convenience-store chain with more than 300 locations. The contract allows Bitcoin Depot to deploy more than 80 machines in stores in multiple states.
  • Mastercard Inc. launched a program aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs with training and other services.
  • CampusGuard, a cybersecurity provider for campuses and other communities, has renamed its Payments Advisory Services to Treasury Solutions.
  • Former Visa Inc. executive Chuck Yu has taken over as chief executive of Very Good Security, a provider of payment-security technology for merchants, fintechs, and banks. Prior to Visa, Yu was an official at TrialPay Inc., which the card company acquired in 2015.
