Focus POS Releases @Table and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/24/21

  • Focus POS released its @Table service that enables customers to scan a QR code on the table that pulls up a menu on the device. They then can select and order items and receive confirmation their order is being prepared. They service can keep the tab open until the customer is ready to pay.
  • CardFlight Inc. said card-present transactions for the week of March 15 were 46% higher than the baseline week of March 2, 2020, in its most recent Small Business Report. Card-not-present transactions were 70% higher.
  • Airline payments specialist UATP said it will receive a patent for its Ceptor technology, its in-house built alternative forms of payment processing product.
  • The popular cryptocurrency app provider Wirex said it is temporarily pausing the sign-up of new users in the United Kingdom to work on buttressing its compliance with that country’s Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive. The move follows discussions with the Financial Conduct Authority, a U.K. regulator. Wirex claims 3.5 million users worldwide.
  • Payments provider Bonita Payments has funded a $2-million program to offer working capital to merchants to help them adjust to difficulties brought on by the pandemic.
  • Discover Financial Services said an agreement with Network International Jordan, operator of the Jordanian National Switch, will enable merchant acceptance across that Middle Eastern country for Discover, Diners Club, and network alliance cards.
  • Bestpass Inc., a payment provider for road tolls for commercial fleets, has acquired the Maryland Motor Truck Association’s toll-management program, adding more than 400 fleets to its client base. Terms were not disclosed. The company claims more than 675,000 toll transponders deployed in North America.
  • Logistics specialist Relay Payments Inc. said it has agreed to provide digital-payment options for Old Dominion Freight Line Inc., allowing ODFL’s clients to pay electronically.
  • Former Visa Inc. executive Rory Byrne joined Bill.com, a provider of payment-processing software, as vice president of corporate development.
