CFPB Wants More from Block And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 8/22/22

  • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has filed a petition with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California seeking to require Block Inc. to fully comply with the CFPB’s demands for information related to Block’s Cash App product, according to Bloomberg. Block said it is “disappointed” with the action and added it has been cooperating with the consumer watchdog, Bloomberg reported.
  • Nayax Ltd., a payments provider for vending and other unattended-retail applications, announced an integration with Vagabond, a technology provider for vending, to allow Vagabond’s clients to use Nayax’s VPOS Touch readers in their machines.
  • Truist Financial Corp. said it has acquired assets from Zaloni Inc., a developer of data-analytics tools based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. Terms were not disclosed.
  • Twelve percent of United Kingdom consumers used a buy now, pay later payment method in 2021, according to the latest Payments Markets Report issued by UK Finance, a trade organization. The report also found that 58% of consumer card payments were contactless last year.
