Celero Acquires Everest and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 12/14/21

  • Celero Commerce said it acquired Everest Payment Solutions. Terms were not disclosed. With Everest, Celero will serve more than 45,000 merchants that process more than $18 billion in annual card volume.
  • Digital ordering and payments technology, which gained prominence with the pandemic, has made customers more impatient, with 64% indicating they won’t wait more than five minutes to order at the counter or drive-through window, according to a September survey of more than 5,700 consumers globally, sponsored by Oracle Food and Beverage, formerly Micros.
  • Members of the Wyndham Rewards program for hotel loyalty can convert their points to cash via a link to the Bakkt app. Bakkt is a digital-asset marketplace. Once converted, the funds can be deposited into a bank account, used to purchase gift cards, or spent via Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  • Circle Internet Financial said it will support its stablecoin, USD Coin, on the Avalanche public blockchain. More than $40 billion in USDC is now in circulation, according to Circle.
  • The international payments network SWIFT said central bank digital currencies are among its priorities for 2022.
  • Primepay Solutions Ltd. said it will launch its Primo wallet in January. The app supports digital currencies and is aimed at both consumer and business users.
  • ParkMobile LLC’s parking-payments app hit the 30-million milestone in number of users, up more than 130% from a year ago. ParkMobile was acquired in June by EasyPark Group.
  • Payments provider Nuvei Corp. said its subsidiary, Simplex, is providing Visa-branded debit cards to partners in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. The cards enable users to spend cryptocurrency holdings.
  • Payments provider Aliaswire joined the Nacha-operated Phixius network that enables the peer-to-peer exchange of payment-related data.
  • Payments provider VizyPay added Outhay Lovan as chief strategy officer, Mary Bakkie as director of banking partnerships, Trinh Le-Coulter as director of client success, and Jesse James as director of strategic partnerships.
