- American Express Co. posted an online guide for consumers about contactless cards. Beginning in July of 2019, all newly issued AmEx consumer and small-business cards are contactless-enabled, and starting next month all newly issued corporate cards will be contactless-enabled.
- P97 Networks, a provider of mobile payments and rewards programs for petroleum retailers, said its technology partner, point-of-sale payments provider Fiscal Systems, has certified to the Conexxus 2.0 standard for convenience-store and petroleum-station technology.

- Mastercard Inc. announced a digital-payments project in conjunction with Levi Strauss & Co., Marks & Spencer, and VF Corp., for garment workers. Mastercard will test a payment service at factories in Egypt and Cambodia that will deposit wages directly into workers’ accounts.
- A startup called Fidel, whose application programming interface allows developers to build features like loyalty programs on top of the major card networks, raised $18 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Nyca Partners and QED Investors.
- Meta Financial Corp. appointed Anthony Starrett executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary. Starrett comes to the company from Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. Meta Financial is the parent company of MetaBank, a major provider of prepaid cards.
