Afterpay’s Rewards Program Grows and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/29/21

  • Buy now, pay later specialist Afterpay Ltd. expanded its points-based Pulse Rewards program to all users. The company claims 17 million users in North America.
  • Rival BNPL specialist Klarna AB announced it will offer financing to client merchants through business-finance platform Liberis Ltd.
  • Rectangle Health, a payments provider specializing in doctors’ offices, is working with DoctorLogic LLC, a technology provider in the same specialty, to offer online and contactless payment options.
  • Huntington Bank introduced Early Pay, which gives customers with direct deposit access to paychecks up to two days early at no cost.
  • Payments-technology provider Citcon USA LLC said it has won Oracle Validated Integration with Xstore Expertise for Citcon’s integration of its payment gateway for Oracle Xstore merchants. The integration enables merchants to accept mobile wallets on existing point-of-sale systems.
  • Diebold Nixdorf Inc. said its new Service Connect mobile app, developed with Flybits, helps identify errors at ATMs. Flybits is a developer for financial services.
  • The Western Union Co. has agreed to enable users of Linxo, a French bank-account aggregation service, to make local and cross-border digital transfers.
  • Payments provider Newtek Business Services Corp. has hired Michael Breier as vice president for independent sales organization development for its Newtek Merchant Solutions unit. Breier comes to the company with experience at Priority Payment Systems, Cynergy Data, and First Data Corp.
  • Rusiru Gunasena, managing director of operations for JHA PayCenter at Jack Henry & Associates Inc., has joined the U.S. Faster Payments Council Board Advisory Group.
